The automobile route called U.S. Highway 91 (later known as Interstate 15) is completed.

Death of J. Ross Clark
J. Ross Clark, the younger brother of Senator William A. Clark, dies this year.
He convinced his more famous brother of the opportunity to build the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad.

The Evening Review-Journal
The newspaper ''Clark County Review'' merges with the ''Journal'' becoming the ''Evening Review-Journal''.

Golf in Las Vegas
The first golf course of Las Vegas is opened, near the area that in the future will host the Las Vegas Hilton.

A XX Century Hero
On May 20 Charles A. Lindbergh takes off from Long Island, New York, for an epic enterprise: flying nonstop and alone across the Atlantic.
His plane, named The Spirit of St. Louis, has been modified to contain enough fuel for such a long trip.
During his 33 1/3 hr journey till Paris, Lindbergh will be fighting against bad weather, instabilities of the plane, and beyond all against the risk of falling asleep.

A New Lord of China
In March General Chiang Kai-shek gets control of most of China. He succeeds having allied the Chinese Communist Party and the Guomindang, the bourgeois revolutionary party.
But in a second time he goes against Communists, outlawing their party, and declaring himself President of a Nationalist government.

Heisenberg's Principle
The German physicist Werner Heisenberg publishes a paper, in which he shows that it is impossible to determine the position of a particle without perturbing its velocity.
This result will be better known as the Uncertainty Principle.
The counterintuitive idea that the presence of an observer must affect a physical system will be at the basis of the new Quantum Theory.

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy
The British actor Arthur Stanley Jefferson (better known as Stan Laurel) plays his first comedy, titled ''Putting Pants on Philips'', together with the american Oliver Norwell Hardy, Jr.
This is the beginning of the long career of this world famous comic duo.
