THIS YEAR IN LAS VEGAS ...

WHILE IN THE WORLD ...

Block 16: the sin district
At the time of the original auction, the Las Vegas Land and Water Company stated that alcoholic beverages could not be sold anywhere in the Las Vegas town, with the exception of Block 16.
The penalty for whom infringes that rule is to give back his lots to the railroad company.
In this way Block 16 becomes the entertainment (and sin) part of the town, and hosts amongs others the first famous saloon and gambling hall in Las Vegas, the Arizona Club.
