WYNN LAS VEGAS OPENING IN APRIL 2005
Wynn Las Vegas, the latest resort of Steve Wynn, is planned to open by April 2005, shortly before the Las Vegas 100th birthday. Its estimated cost, $2.4 billion, is a record by itself.
This megaresort, which will appear on the site of the Desert Inn, will have one 45 story hotel tower (the tallest hotel tower on the Strip), with the possible future addition of a second one, a 110,000 square foot casino, a 18 hole golf course, plus many restaurants, shops, a night club, two wedding chapels, a fine art collection, two theaters (one of which for a new show of the Cirque du Soleil), and even an artificial lake with a nearby man made mountain.
The original name chosen for this resort was ''Le Reve'' (French for ''The Dream'') from the name of the Picasso painting; on June 2003 the name has been changed to ''Wynn Las Vegas''.
Steve Wynn is famous for having created other resorts such as the Mirage, Treasure Island and more recently Bellagio.
